UK Moves Further Toward a Fully Digital Border

The UK is continuing its transition towards a digital immigration and border system. The Home Office says more than 10 million eVisas and 20 million Electronic Travel Authorisations (ETAs) had been issued by June 2026, with automated clearance increasingly becoming part of the border experience.

What this means: Travellers should ensure their digital immigration status or ETA is correctly linked to their current passport before travelling.
